Detailed Synopsis

In the aftermath of an incomprehensible loss, lifelong friends struggle to get through a bachelor party weekend.

Soon to be married to his pregnant fiancée, Chris is the success story of his high school friend group, the Federation. After the shocking suicide of their childhood friend Davey, Chris flies home for a grief fueled bachelor party weekend hosted by his old friends at his parents’ vacation house, a barge in the Rockaways.

Early in the trip, Chris’s former best friend, the immature and impulsive Ollie, brings to light the unforgivable circumstances that led to Davey’s death. Before Chris can process what’s happened, he is swept up into the trappings of the chaotic, albeit fun, lifestyle of his old friend group. After a sloppy night out, Chris and Ollie are joined by the remaining members of the Federation: the soft spoken and reserved Scott; Scott’s long-term girlfriend, the well intentioned and performatively woke Frankie; and Laura, the steadfast soul of the group.

With the whole group finally together, the weekend quickly devolves into a debaucherous party, complete with self-medicated nostalgic ramblings, drunken proclamations about third-wave feminism, and a never-ending supply of crass commentary. Over the course of the weekend, the ensuing shenanigans and misguided mythologization of Davey’s life begin to wear on Chris’s conscience.

Tensions rise to a breaking point when Chris finds out additional horrific details about Davey, while the drama of the Federation’s personal lives take center stage. The explosive revelations, bring Chris to confront his friends’ complicity as well as his own ethics and morality.
